Donovan Street Press Inc. is a traditional publisher based in Riverview, New Brunswick that primarily publishes books, including genre-bending science fiction, fantasy, horror, straight-up literary fiction, and memoir. DSP Inc. also produces a podcast about creativity called Re-Creative in association with Mark A. Rayner of MonkeyJoy Press.

Is Donovan Street Press a traditional publisher?

Yes. We believe that money flows to our authors, not the other way around.

Is Donovan Street Press open to submissions?

DSP Inc. is invitation only for the time being.

How can I purchase one of your books?

All of our books are available online via Kobo, Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, and so forth. Our books are also available in Chapters in Dieppe, NB, Cover to Cover in Riverview, NB, Coles in Summerside, PEI, Dog Eared Books in Oromocto, NB, and via Partridge Island Publishing in Saint John NB. They can also be ordered from most bookstores on the planet Earth and possibly elsewhere (you just never know). Do your authors accept reading and speaking engagements (e.g., book clubs, author events, interviews etc.)?

Can you read my manuscript and help me get published?

Ah, no. We simply don’t have enough time. We will sometimes help close friends, but only ones we really, really like, and only if they provide copious amounts of chocolate.

What is some helpful writing advice?

A story is like a sand castle. The first draft is just shovelling sand. Don’t worry about shaping the castle until you have enough sand.

Our goal at Donovan Street Press Inc. is for you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Please read our policy carefully to understand the conditions for returns and refunds.

I. Returns from Individual Customers (Direct Online Sales)

This section applies to products purchased directly from the Donovan Street Press Inc. website or via other direct-to-consumer channels.

  • Return Window: You may return an item for a refund or exchange within 30 days of the original delivery date.

  • Eligibility: To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

    • Ineligible Items: Digital products (eBooks, audiobooks, etc.), gift cards, and items marked as "Final Sale" are generally non-returnable.

    • Opened Media: Shrink-wrapped or sealed products (e.g., CDs, DVDs, books with sealed components) that have been opened are non-returnable unless the item is defective (see below).

  • Proof of Purchase: A receipt or proof of purchase, such as your order number, is required to process all returns.

  • Defective or Damaged Products: If your order arrives damaged, defective, or if you received the wrong item, please contact us immediately at contact@donovanstreetpress.com within 14 days of delivery. We will arrange for a return or exchange and cover all associated shipping costs.

II. How to Initiate a Return

  1. Contact Us: To start a return, please email contact@donovanstreetpress.comwith your Order Number and the reason for the return.

  2. Return Authorization: We will review your request and, if approved, provide you with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and detailed shipping instructions. Returns sent without an RMA number may be refused.

  3. Shipping:

    • Customer Responsibility: Unless the return is due to our error (defective/damaged/wrong item), you will be responsible for paying your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

    • Recommended Shipping: If you are shipping an item over $20 CAD, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

III. Refunds

  • Processing Time: Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email notification. If approved, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment within 7-10 business days.

  • Late or Missing Refunds: If you haven’t received a refund after the stated period, first check your bank account. Then, contact your credit card company or bank, as there is often a processing time before a refund is officially posted. IV. Retailer and Wholesale Returns

Industry Standard Returnability: Donovan Street Press Inc. titles are generally sold to retailers and wholesalers on a returnable basis in line with industry standards to encourage stocking and display.

  • Terms: Returns from retailers and wholesalers must adhere to the specific terms and conditions outlined in their account agreement with our distributor (should we come to employ one) or direct contract with Donovan Street Press Inc.

  • Condition: Returned products must be in resalable condition (new, undamaged, no stickers, etc.) unless specifically agreed upon otherwise.

  • "Return-Destroy" Option: For international or bulk returns where shipping costs are prohibitive, we may offer a "Return-Destroy" option, requiring proof of destruction for credit to be issued.
